Karni Mata cable car ride is one of the popular tourist attraction of Udaipur city, apart from palaces of lake district of course. However, Indians usually use the term ropeway instead of cable car so google search for Udaipur ropeway would yield correct results.
There is a temple of famous Hindu deity Karni Mata at the top of the hill built during early 17th century. People use to climb up using steep stairs to visit temple for religious ceremonies. In order to ease discomfort of the devotees a cable car was constructed in 2008. Later on, this became a popular tourist attraction specially for those hunting for perfect sunrise or sunset view of the Udaipur city.
How To Reach Karni Mata Ropeway
The cable / ropeway is located in the heart of the city hence it is not difficult to access it using public transport service. If you are coming from touristic area of lake Pichola, it would be best to get tuk-tuk for pre negotiated price or order Uber/Ola cabs from designated pickup point in the old city. They will drop you at park located at the bottom of the ropeway commonly known as Deen Dayal Park. It takes about 20 minutes to get there from old city.
Entry Fee, Timing Of Cable/Ropeway Ride
The ropeway or cable car is operated between 9 am to 6 pm everyday. Expect it to be more crowded during evening or religious festivals. People typically spend between 30 minutes to 2 hours for the entire experience.
