Every year in April, a tea festival is organized where participants of several countries showcase their tea in Tbilisi Tea Festival.
When Is Next Tbilisi Tea Festival?
Tbilisi tea festival is being held in the month of April for last few years and we expect the next festival in 2019 will be held in April 2019 keeping with annual schedule. The timing of the event has been in past from 12 noon to evening on Sunday.
What To Expect At Tbilisi Tea Festival?
Leading tea producers and companies from Georgia and abroad will gather to showcase their products to public. There will be retail sale of tea along with information about tea traditions, master classes and free sample of tea. For last few years, students and tea lovers showed their tea making skills. The master classes and product information is shared in Georgian, Russian and English language. The master cup competition is held in following categories namely tea preparation, tea pairing and tea mixology. The winner of the master cup competition also gets a chance to participate in tea master cup international competition.
Tea companies like Ahmed tea, Azer Chai, Greenfield, Palais and Lipton were present and popular with general public. The companies from Georgia, Armenia, Turkey and India are present. Each country is given about 30 minutes to showcase their cultural dance and music via stage performance. There is also live music (mostly jazz) to entertain visitors. In addition to tea, local produces such as honey and jam were also sold.
The purpose of the tea festival is to create awareness and popularize tea drinking culture in Georgia. It also aims to disseminates information about health benefits of drinking tea. On the whole, it is a good way to spend Sunday while learning about tea drinking culture. This festival is a children friendly family event so it is a good idea to visit the festival with entire family.
